Austin, TX – (February 9, 2009) The Harlem Globetrotters and Txtstation recently joined forces to add an in-stadium premium SMS promotion to their basketball performances throughout a four month national tour that concludes at the end of April.
Amidst the basketball action, the interactive promotion allows for attendees at the arena to decide what costume the Washington Generals coach will need to wear should his team lose the contest to the Globetrotters. The fans have two costumes to choose from - a hot dog or a tutu. To vote, an individual can send one of the two corresponding keywords to the short code 55333. Each message costs $.99 and fans are asked to confirm their vote. The vote is tallied, and should the Generals lose the game, the coach has to make an appearance in the winning costume.
“The Harlem Globetrotters experience is meant to fun and interactive. We want our fans to become part of the show and Txtstation provided an excellent opportunity to do so. The fans now have a voice by using their mobile phones and needless to say, we are having a great time with this one!” said Michael Dittelman, Vice President of Business Development for the Harlem Globetrotters.
“Almost everyone has a mobile phone these days and it is a perfect medium for content owners to engage their fans and provide them with a means to interact with their brand. The Harlem Globetrotters realized this fact and have capitalized on it with what has become a very fun promotion for all parties involved,” said Michael Falato, VP of Sales and Business Development for Txtstation. |
