Surfs up! The Mavericks Surf Contest, sponsored by AT&T and Sony Ericsson, recently selected Txtstation to create a custom WAP site for their annual event held off the coast of Half Moon Bay, CA. The site featured five downloadable wallpapers of notable surfers as well a sweepstakes entry for a custom Randy Cone Board. Users could easily navigate from the wallpapers to the sweepstakes entry and vice versa.

Mavericks fans were driven to the WAP site (sony.txtstation.com) via a text message campaign onsite as they were encouraged to text the word SURF to 55333.  In doing so, they received an instant reply message to their phone that included a hyperlink to the site.  The program generated buzz on-site and it served as a great example of how a simple text message campaign can be extended into a more rich interactive experience in the form of a WAP site.
